Ophthalmotilapia ventralis

Origin: Lake Tanganyika, Africa

Geographic Range: Shallow rocky shores and open waters of Lake Tanganyika.

Diet: Omnivore; In the wild, they feed on zooplankton and small invertebrates. Provide a diet that includes high-quality pellets, flakes, and occasional live or frozen foods like brine shrimp or daphnia.

Average Adult Size: Around 6-8 inches (15-20 cm)

Sexual Dimorphism: Limited sexual dimorphism; males may have slightly more extended finnage and brighter coloration.

Minimum Tank Size: 125 gallons or larger for a group of Ophthalmotilapia ventralis.

Temperament: Generally peaceful, but males can be territorial during breeding. Best kept in a species-specific setup or with other peaceful Tanganyikan cichlids.
