Description
Neetroplus nematopus
Origin: Endemic to freshwater habitats in Central America, specifically found in rivers and lakes in Costa Rica and Panama.
Geographic Range: Native to Central America.
Diet: Omnivore; In the wild, they feed on a variety of small invertebrates, insects, and plant matter. In captivity, provide a balanced diet with high-quality pellets, flakes, and occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and small invertebrates.
Average Adult Size: Can reach up to 8 inches (20 cm).
Sexual Dimorphism: Limited sexual dimorphism. Males may develop slightly more extended dorsal and anal fins.
Minimum Tank Size: A tank of at least 50 gallons is recommended for adult Neetroplus nematopus.
Temperament: Generally peaceful but can become territorial, especially during breeding. Keep them with tankmates of similar size and temperament.
