Description

Cyprichromis leptosoma – Utinta

Origin: Lake Tanganyika, Africa

Geographic Range: Rocky shores and open waters of Lake Tanganyika.

Diet: Omnivore; In the wild, they feed on plankton. Provide a diet that includes high-quality flakes, pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp or daphnia.

Average Adult Size: Around 4-5 inches (10-12 cm)

Sexual Dimorphism: Limited sexual dimorphism; males may have slightly more extended finnage and brighter coloration.

Minimum Tank Size: 75 gallons or larger for a community of Cyprichromis leptosoma – Utinta.

Temperament: Generally peaceful. Best kept in a species-specific tank or with other peaceful Tanganyikan cichlids. They are schooling fish, and a group of at least 12 individuals is recommended to reduce aggression.
